01Vehicle Insurance
Kosovo is NOT in the Green Card system. Most European motor insurance policies are not valid here.
Exceptions: vehicles insured in Albania, North Macedonia and Montenegro only. All other countries must purchase border insurance.
- Purchase at border crossing (cash or card) or online in advance at bks-ks.org
- Covers third-party liability only, not damage to your own vehicle
- Buy online before arriving to skip border queues
02Entry and Visa
Citizens of the EU, USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and most Western countries can enter Kosovo visa-free for up to 90 days. A valid passport is required.
Serbia border warning: Serbia does not recognize the Kosovo border as an international crossing. If you enter Kosovo from Albania, North Macedonia or Montenegro, you cannot exit directly into Serbia. If your route includes Serbia, enter Kosovo from Serbia and return the same way, or leave Kosovo through a third country.

04Mandatory Vehicle Equipment
Kosovo law requires the following to be carried in your vehicle at all times:
